Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Oil & Gas and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 rose 1.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE), which rose 4.92% or 73.90 points to trade at 1575.00 at the close. Total Nig (LAGOS:TOTAL) added 4.74% or 9.50 points to end at 208.00 and Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) was up 4.38% or 0.060 points to 1.430 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN), which lost 4.17% or 0.030 points to trade at 0.690 in late trade. Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN) declined 2.86% or 0.40 points to end at 13.60 and Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO) shed 2.50% or 1.05 points to 41.80.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 53 to 40 and 17 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.05% or 0.77 to $74.22 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 1.97% or 1.53 to hit $79.14 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.34% or 4.30 to trade at $1255.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.41% to 419.050, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 360.000.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.74% at 94.30.
