Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Insurance and Food, Beverages & Tobacco sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 added 1.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN), which rose 10.00% or 0.100 points to trade at 1.100 at the close. Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) added 7.78% or 0.210 points to end at 2.910 and Access Bank (LAGOS:ACCESS) was up 5.00% or 0.60 points to 12.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN), which lost 3.85% or 0.050 points to trade at 1.320 in late trade. Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ) declined 3.60% or 0.90 points to end at 24.10 and Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO) shed 1.57% or 0.80 points to 50.20.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 50 to 38 and 12 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.32% or 0.19 to $59.38 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 0.48% or 0.30 to hit $63.02 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 1.48% or 19.70 to trade at $1350.10 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.02% to 444.950, while USD/NGN fell 0.14% to 360.500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.36% at 89.28.
