Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Technology, Oil & Gas and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 2.52%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Relx PLC (AS:REL), which rose 2.59% or 1.12 points to trade at 44.36 at the close. Universal Music Group NV (AS:UMG) added 2.37% or 0.56 points to end at 24.19 and Wolters Kluwer (AS:WLSNc) was up 2.01% or 3.15 points to 160.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML), which lost 15.64% or 123.90 points to trade at 668.10 in late trade. ASM International NV (AS:ASMI) declined 13.92% or 82.00 points to end at 507.00 and BE Semiconductor Industries NV (AS:BESI) shed 11.12% or 12.65 points to 101.15.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 55 to 43 and 11 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 21.09.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 4.89% or 3.61 to $70.22 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 4.71% or 3.65 to hit $73.81 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.68% or 18.10 to trade at $2,683.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.09% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.29% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 102.97.
