Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Software & Computer Services, Technology Hardware & Equipment and Construction & Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 0.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 1.98% or 1.860 points to trade at 95.880 at the close. Koninklijke Vopak NV (AS:VOPA) added 1.59% or 0.65 points to end at 41.47 and ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd) was up 1.49% or 0.32 points to 21.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Koninklijke KPN NV (AS:KPN), which lost 2.95% or 0.078 points to trade at 2.564 in late trade. Aegon NV (AS:AEGN) declined 1.94% or 0.086 points to end at 4.348 and Philips Lighting NV (AS:LIGHT) shed 1.89% or 0.39 points to 20.21.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 72 to 55 and 9 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 3.79% to 17.67.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 1.49% or 0.76 to $51.91 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 1.03% or 0.62 to hit $60.77 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.23% or 2.85 to trade at $1247.15 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.14% to 1.1352, while EUR/GBP fell 0.12% to 0.8992.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 97.162.
