Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Healthcare and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 0.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Heineken (AS:HEIN), which rose 1.21% or 0.84 points to trade at 70.26 at the close. ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML) added 0.74% or 5.00 points to end at 683.30 and Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) was up 0.34% or 0.11 points to 32.19 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd), which lost 3.98% or 0.60 points to trade at 14.47 in late trade. ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) declined 2.67% or 0.40 points to end at 14.66 and BE Semiconductor Industries NV (AS:BESI) shed 2.01% or 2.55 points to 124.15.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 62 to 42 and 6 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 21.09.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.16% or 0.11 to $70.18 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.11% or 0.08 to hit $73.44 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 1.77% or 48.91 to trade at $2,707.79 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.18% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.44% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 106.27.
