Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financials, Software & Computer Services and Technology Hardware & Equipment sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 0.65%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 2.63% or 2.300 points to trade at 89.840 at the close. Koninklijke Philips NV (AS:PHG) added 1.89% or 0.57 points to end at 30.77 and Heineken (AS:HEIN) was up 1.86% or 1.40 points to 76.48 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which lost 1.62% or 0.03 points to trade at 1.73 in late trade. WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) declined 1.03% or 1.48 points to end at 142.40 and Philips Lighting NV (AS:LIGHT) shed 0.78% or 0.16 points to 20.25.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 78 to 47 and 18 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 3.91% to 17.00.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 2.63% or 1.33 to $51.84 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 2.09% or 1.23 to hit $60.22 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.27% or 3.55 to trade at $1287.75 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.74% to 1.1389, while EUR/GBP rose 0.32% to 0.8945.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.65% at 95.822.
