Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Financials, Oil & Gas and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.50%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd), which rose 5.94% or 1.50 points to trade at 26.72 at the close. ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) added 2.05% or 0.315 points to end at 15.650 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) was up 1.99% or 1.430 points to 73.440 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which lost 2.57% or 0.19 points to trade at 7.33 in late trade. Koninklijke KPN NV (AS:KPN) declined 2.31% or 0.069 points to end at 2.924 and Koninklijke Vopak NV (AS:VOPA) shed 1.66% or 0.60 points to 35.88.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 71 to 51 and 9 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 7.44% to 10.41 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 1.27% or 0.72 to $57.41 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 1.83% or 1.14 to hit $63.34 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.30% or 3.80 to trade at $1249.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.09% to 1.1762, while EUR/GBP rose 0.47% to 0.8778.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 93.91.
