Investing.com – Mexico equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Industrials, Consumer Staples and Telecoms Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC fell 1.57%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Alfa, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:ALFAA), which rose 1.03% or 0.11 points to trade at 10.75 at the close. Grupo Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:GMEXICOB) added 0.79% or 0.80 points to end at 101.64 and Grupo Financiero Banorte (BMV:GFNORTEO) was up 0.46% or 0.67 points to 147.18 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Orbia Advance Corporation SAB de CV (BMV:ORBIA), which lost 5.61% or 1.43 points to trade at 24.06 in late trade. Grupo Bimbo, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:BIMBOA) declined 5.48% or 3.66 points to end at 63.16 and Megacable Holdings, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:MEGACPO) shed 5.46% or 2.50 points to 43.26.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 146 to 84 and 10 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.01% or 0.25 to $2,338.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.04% or 0.03 to hit $83.35 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.16% or 0.14 to trade at $86.74 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.36% to 18.27, while EUR/MXN fell 0.49% to 19.63.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 105.37.
