Investing.com – Mexico equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Consumer Staples, Materials and Consumer Goods & Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC lost 0.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Financiero Banorte (BMV:GFNORTEO), which rose 3.26% or 4.33 points to trade at 137.01 at the close. Gentera SAB de CV (BMV:GENTERA) added 2.51% or 0.58 points to end at 23.66 and Qualitas Controladora, SAB De CV (BMV:Q) was up 1.98% or 3.60 points to 185.19 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Becle SA (BMV:CUERVO), which lost 3.64% or 1.31 points to trade at 34.65 in late trade. Cemex SAB de CV (BMV:CEMEXCPO) declined 2.95% or 0.36 points to end at 11.83 and Grupo Aeroportuario Del CentroNorte (BMV:OMAB) shed 2.48% or 4.03 points to 158.70.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 157 to 61 and 15 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.26% or 29.20 to $2,347.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.28% or 0.22 to hit $78.40 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.27% or 0.22 to trade at $82.53 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 0.60% to 18.46, while EUR/MXN rose 0.16% to 19.77.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 105.13.
