Investing.com – Mexico equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Telecoms Services, Consumer Goods & Services and Financial Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC declined 2.03% to hit a new 6-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IPC were Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (MX:PENOLES), which fell 0.02% or 0.040 points to trade at 243.220 at the close. Alpek, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALPEKA) fell 0.24% or 0.050 points to end at 21.000 and Grupo Carso, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GCARSOA1) was down 0.47% or 0.320 points to 68.190 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Empresas ICA , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ICA), which lost 13.61% or 1.000 points to trade at 6.280 in late trade. Cemex SAB de CV (MX:CMXCPO) declined 5.16% or 0.650 points to end at 11.940 and Grupo Financiero Santander Mexico (MX:SANMEXB) shed 4.62% or 1.270 points to 26.080.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 126 to 35 and 3 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.51% or 5.90 to $1159.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.54% or 1.05 to hit $40.27 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 2.82% or 1.31 to trade at $45.30 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 0.99% to 16.9829, while EUR/MXN rose 2.11% to 19.3046.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.89% at 94.92.
