Investing.com – Mexico equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Materials, Financial Services and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC lost 0.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IPC were Grupo Elektra, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ELEKTRA), which rose 1.37% or 4.780 points to trade at 350.500 at the close. Alpek, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALPEKA) added 2.02% or 0.460 points to end at 23.270 and Arca Continental, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:AC) was up 1.40% or 1.260 points to 91.220 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grupo LALA SA de CV (MX:LALAB), which lost 1.87% or 0.64 points to trade at 33.52 in late trade. Mexichem, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:MEXCHEM) declined 1.65% or 0.740 points to end at 44.160 and Grupo Financiero Inbursa, SAB De CV (MX:GFINBURO) shed 1.17% or 0.420 points to 35.370.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 42 to 40 and 5 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.37% or 4.30 to $1167.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.48% or 1.41 to hit $55.52 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 2.44% or 1.51 to trade at $60.55 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 0.50% to 15.7398, while EUR/MXN rose 0.70% to 17.4805.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.10% at 96.38.
