Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Materials, Consumer Staples and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC rose 0.61%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IPC were Ohl Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:OHLMEX), which rose 5.86% or 1.490 points to trade at 26.920 at the close. Alpek, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALPEKA) added 2.93% or 1.000 points to end at 35.100 and Grupo Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GMEXICOB) was up 2.51% or 1.160 points to 47.430 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Empresas ICA , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ICA), which lost 4.24% or 0.100 points to trade at 2.260 in late trade. Genomma Lab Internacional SAB De CV (MX:LABB) declined 0.97% or 0.210 points to end at 21.420 and Gruma SAB de CV (MX:GRUMAB) shed 1.02% or 2.740 points to 264.910.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 100 to 74 and 9 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.62% or 8.45 to $1364.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 4.00% or 1.58 to hit $41.09 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 3.76% or 1.57 to trade at $43.37 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.16% to 18.8880, while EUR/MXN fell 0.92% to 21.0560.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.53% at 95.52.
