Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financial Services, Consumer Staples and Consumer Goods & Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC added 2.63% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Financiero Banorte (MX:GFNORTEO), which rose 5.64% or 6.580 points to trade at 123.330 at the close. VOLARIS A (MX:VOLARA) added 5.21% or 0.53 points to end at 10.71 and Alsea , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALSEA) was up 5.10% or 3.370 points to 69.420 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grupo Televisa SAB Unit (MX:TLVACPO), which lost 2.46% or 1.87 points to trade at 74.19 in late trade. Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (MX:PENOLES) declined 0.02% or 0.07 points to end at 346.46 and Grupo Aeroportuario Del CentroNorte (MX:OMAB) gained 0.63% or 0.650 points to 104.170.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 181 to 155 and 11 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.35% or 4.40 to $1257.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.42% or 1.05 to hit $73.09 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.70% or 0.55 to trade at $77.69 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 1.21% to 19.2163, while EUR/MXN fell 0.87% to 22.4653.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 94.14.
