Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financial Services, Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC added 1.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Cemex SAB de CV (MX:CMXCPO), which rose 4.15% or 0.540 points to trade at 13.540 at the close. Mexichem , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:MEXCHEM) added 3.05% or 1.640 points to end at 55.400 and Grupo Financiero Banorte (MX:GFNORTEO) was up 2.91% or 3.310 points to 117.250 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Alpek, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALPEKA), which lost 2.89% or 0.750 points to trade at 25.200 in late trade. PINFRA SAB De CV (MX:PINFRA) declined 2.14% or 4.10 points to end at 187.51 and Gruma SAB de CV (MX:GRUMAB) shed 1.62% or 3.63 points to 220.87.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 187 to 108 and 15 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.38% or 5.10 to $1322.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 1.37% or 0.84 to hit $60.31 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.02% or 0.01 to trade at $63.88 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.03% to 18.6524, while EUR/MXN fell 0.03% to 22.9664.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.61% at 90.11.
