Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Healthcare, Materials and Financial Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC gained 1.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Cemex SAB de CV (BMV:CEMEXCPO), which rose 5.58% or 0.67 points to trade at 12.75 at the close. Alfa, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:ALFAA) added 3.61% or 0.40 points to end at 11.44 and Grupo Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:GMEXICOB) was up 3.48% or 3.66 points to 108.51 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grupo Comercial Chedraui, SAB De CV (BMV:CHDRAUIB), which lost 2.86% or 4.30 points to trade at 146.11 in late trade. Gentera SAB de CV (BMV:GENTERA) declined 1.43% or 0.31 points to end at 21.35 and Promotora y Operadora de Infraestructura SAB de CV (BMV:PINFRA) shed 1.06% or 1.91 points to 179.68.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 148 to 75 and 15 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.60% or 14.85 to $2,494.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.45% or 1.12 to hit $78.10 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.02% or 0.02 to trade at $80.95 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 0.09% to 18.65, while EUR/MXN rose 0.04% to 20.47.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.48% at 102.88.
