Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Financial Services, Consumer Staples and Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC rose 0.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Alpek, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALPEKA), which rose 1.96% or 0.480 points to trade at 24.910 at the close. Grupo Financiero Banorte (MX:GFNORTEO) added 1.69% or 1.840 points to end at 110.950 and Grupo Aeroportuario Del CentroNorte (MX:OMAB) was up 1.48% or 1.460 points to 100.280 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Genomma Lab Internacional SAB De CV (MX:LABB), which lost 1.38% or 0.290 points to trade at 20.710 in late trade. Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ELEKTRA) declined 1.30% or 8.68 points to end at 660.00 and Nemak SAB de CV (MX:NEMAKA) shed 1.11% or 0.17 points to 15.08.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 96 to 58 and 17 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.42% or 5.60 to $1340.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.79% or 0.51 to hit $64.81 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.52% or 0.36 to trade at $70.22 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 0.02% to 18.8599, while EUR/MXN rose 0.05% to 23.1338.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.54% at 90.13.
