Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumer Staples, Materials and Financial Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC rose 0.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were El Puerto De Liverpool Sab De CV (MX:LIVEPOLC1), which rose 4.50% or 5.69 points to trade at 132.15 at the close. Coca Cola Femsa SAB De CV (MX:KOFL) added 2.70% or 3.44 points to end at 130.83 and Wal - Mart De Mexico, SAB De CV (MX:WALMEX) was up 2.18% or 0.990 points to 46.500 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ELEKTRA), which lost 4.93% or 27.45 points to trade at 529.00 in late trade. America Movil SAB de CV (MX:AMXL) declined 2.08% or 0.370 points to end at 17.430 and VOLARIS A (MX:VOLARA) shed 1.90% or 0.29 points to 14.97.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 152 to 124 and 16 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.20% or 15.80 to $1335.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.34% or 0.21 to hit $62.36 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.08% or 0.05 to trade at $65.63 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 0.11% to 18.7620, while EUR/MXN rose 0.17% to 23.2910.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.44% at 89.56.
