Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Goods & Services, Consumer Staples and Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC added 0.28% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ELEKTRA), which rose 3.40% or 21.18 points to trade at 643.70 at the close. Kimberly - Clark De Mexico A (MX:KIMBERA) added 2.85% or 0.970 points to end at 34.990 and Nemak SAB de CV (MX:NEMAKA) was up 2.80% or 0.43 points to 15.76 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (MX:PENOLES), which lost 3.33% or 10.72 points to trade at 310.72 in late trade. Becle SA (MX:CUERVO) declined 1.82% or 0.490 points to end at 26.500 and Grupo Bimbo, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:BIMBOA) shed 1.73% or 0.670 points to 37.960.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 163 to 136 and 3 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.53% or 6.50 to $1232.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.18% or 0.81 to hit $69.33 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.86% or 0.63 to trade at $74.07 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 1.15% to 18.6840, while EUR/MXN fell 0.64% to 21.9285.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.46% at 93.96.
