Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Telecoms Services, Materials and Consumer Staples sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC gained 0.86%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IPC were Grupo Carso, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GCARSOA1), which rose 3.99% or 2.810 points to trade at 73.110 at the close. Grupo Financiero Santander Mexico (MX:SANMEXB) added 2.39% or 0.670 points to end at 28.760 and America Movil L , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:AMXL) was up 2.69% or 0.410 points to 15.670 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Alsea , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALSEA), which lost 1.50% or 0.800 points to trade at 52.190 in late trade. Industrias CH, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ICHB) declined 1.18% or 0.680 points to end at 57.000 and Grupo Financiero Banorte (MX:GFNORTEO) shed 1.23% or 1.060 points to 85.120.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 96 to 73 and 10 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.59% or 6.40 to $1095.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 3.60% or 1.75 to hit $46.77 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 3.00% or 1.60 to trade at $51.71 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 1.01% to 16.1138, while EUR/MXN fell 0.47% to 17.6991.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.30% at 97.32.
