Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financial Services, Telecommunication Services and Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC rose 2.65%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IPC were Bolsa Mexicana De Valores SAB De CV (MX:BOLSAA), which rose 5.13% or 1.260 points to trade at 25.860 at the close. El Puerto De Liverpool Sab De CV (MX:LIVEPOLC1) added 4.95% or 7.620 points to end at 161.840 and Grupo Televisa SA (MX:TLVACPO) was up 4.99% or 4.980 points to 104.550 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grupo Financiero Santander Mexico (MX:SANMEXB), which lost 0.40% or 0.130 points to trade at 31.900 in late trade. Alpek, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALPEKA) declined 1.51% or 0.240 points to end at 15.700 and Infraestructura Energetica Nova SAB (MX:IENOVA) shed 0.84% or 0.60 points to 71.25.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 97 to 33 and 5 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 0.14% or 1.70 to $1221.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in March rose 4.84% or 2.37 to hit $51.20 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract rose 6.12% or 3.42 to trade at $59.34 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.97% to 14.9222, while EUR/MXN fell 0.39% to 17.0155.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.91% at 94.30.
