Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Mining and Warehousing sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Yamaha Corp. (T:7951), which rose 5.39% or 290.0 points to trade at 5670.0 at the close. Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd. (T:4568) added 5.13% or 196.0 points to end at 4020.0 and TOTO Ltd. (T:5332) was up 3.62% or 200.0 points to 5720.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Nippon Kayaku Co., Ltd. (T:4272), which lost 3.09% or 43.0 points to trade at 1347.0 in late trade. The Dai-ichi Life Insurance Co. (T:8750) declined 2.54% or 55.3 points to end at 2120.0 and T&D Holdings, Inc. (T:8795) shed 2.50% or 46.0 points to 1794.5.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2025 to 1311 and 232 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 4.77% to 15.17 a new 3-month low.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.95% or 0.66 to $70.38 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.84% or 0.63 to hit $75.50 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.13% or 1.70 to trade at $1313.00 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.12% to 109.25, while EUR/JPY fell 0.12% to 130.34.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 92.59.
