Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the IT, Banking and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.94% to hit a new 6-month low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 1.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL), which rose 3.43% or 20.55 points to trade at 622.70 at the close. Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) added 2.05% or 16.25 points to end at 806.90 and Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) was up 1.48% or 2.45 points to 168.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which lost 8.65% or 17.15 points to trade at 180.70 in late trade. AXIS Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK) declined 4.51% or 25.30 points to end at 537.70 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) shed 3.77% or 37.85 points to 966.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which rose 2.09% to 168.85, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was up 1.41% to settle at 1044.70 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which gained 1.13% to close at 2505.55.
The worst performers were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which was down 8.97% to 180.55 in late trade, AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which lost 4.04% to settle at 537.35 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 3.14% to 1445.10 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 891 to 696 and 60 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1397 fell and 1066 advanced, while 138 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.42% to 19.2325.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.77% or 9.50 to $1238.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.51% or 1.02 to hit $66.31 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.20% or 0.92 to trade at $75.97 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.10% to 73.315, while EUR/INR fell 0.04% to 83.2605.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 96.52.
