Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Real Estate, IT and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.62%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.60%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL), which rose 3.29% or 7.85 points to trade at 246.50 at the close. Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) added 2.98% or 14.50 points to end at 500.70 and Bosch Ltd (NS:BOSH) was up 1.36% or 300.80 points to 22468.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (NS:IOC), which lost 4.29% or 19.25 points to trade at 429.05 in late trade. ACC Ltd (NS:ACC) declined 2.51% or 45.65 points to end at 1771.10 and Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) shed 2.54% or 10.05 points to 384.85.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) which rose 3.38% to 246.40, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was up 2.79% to settle at 500.55 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which gained 1.06% to close at 161.60.
The worst performers were Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (BO:APSE) which was down 2.60% to 384.30 in late trade, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which lost 2.04% to settle at 901.30 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was down 1.94% to 1192.10 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1052 to 518 and 18 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1608 fell and 977 advanced, while 145 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 12.76% to 13.1650.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.69% or 9.16 to $1339.56 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.04% or 0.02 to hit $47.31 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.70% or 0.37 to trade at $52.38 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.39% to 64.075, while EUR/INR rose 0.48% to 76.3001.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 92.53.
