Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Real Estate, Technology and IT sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.60%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.57%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN), which rose 2.52% or 19.05 points to trade at 775.10 at the close. Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:KTKM) added 1.45% or 26.60 points to end at 1867.00 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) was up 1.12% or 9.35 points to 846.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN), which lost 3.09% or 218.65 points to trade at 6847.25 in late trade. Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) declined 2.70% or 462.80 points to end at 16660.70 and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) shed 2.38% or 18.20 points to 745.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which rose 2.59% to 775.55, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which was up 1.48% to settle at 1867.75 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which gained 1.06% to close at 843.65.
The worst performers were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 3.10% to 6849.80 in late trade, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which lost 2.55% to settle at 16693.00 and ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was down 1.88% to 224.00 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1034 to 746 and 34 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1677 rose and 1560 declined, while 116 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.56% to 17.2175.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.19% or 3.35 to $1768.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.95% or 0.67 to hit $70.06 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.75% or 0.55 to trade at $73.15 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.33% to 76.290, while EUR/INR rose 0.40% to 85.9410.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 96.475.
