Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Banking, Real Estate and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.56%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN), which rose 3.53% or 60.50 points to trade at 1772.55 at the close. HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) added 3.07% or 20.90 points to end at 700.85 and Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) was up 2.63% or 24.30 points to 947.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ICICI Bank Ltd (NS:ICBK), which lost 6.05% or 23.10 points to trade at 358.70 in late trade. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) declined 3.99% or 6.05 points to end at 145.65 and HDFC Bank Ltd (NS:HDBK) shed 3.50% or 39.15 points to 1079.95.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which rose 3.46% to 1770.15, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which was up 2.99% to settle at 701.00 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which gained 2.75% to close at 947.95.
The worst performers were ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which was down 6.11% to 358.50 in late trade, HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which lost 3.47% to settle at 1080.00 and AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was down 3.12% to 431.65 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1215 to 410 and 64 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1723 fell and 795 advanced, while 152 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.97% to 25.0175.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 2.16% or 40.95 to $1938.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.34% or 0.14 to hit $41.43 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.23% or 0.10 to trade at $43.88 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.03% to 74.775, while EUR/INR rose 0.67% to 87.6545.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.67% at 93.743.
