Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Capital Goods, Real Estate and Metals sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.49% to hit a new 1-month low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.45%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which rose 2.08% or 1.90 points to trade at 93.00 at the close. Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) added 1.70% or 3.90 points to end at 233.35 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) was up 1.05% or 4.05 points to 392.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN), which lost 5.11% or 184.10 points to trade at 3429.05 in late trade. Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF) declined 4.28% or 29.40 points to end at 659.60 and Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) shed 2.85% or 10.25 points to 349.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which rose 1.81% to 93.00, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was up 1.44% to settle at 392.05 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which gained 0.85% to close at 1475.60.
The worst performers were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 4.91% to 3426.55 in late trade, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which lost 2.94% to settle at 454.60 and Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was down 2.79% to 151.40 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1060 to 488 and 85 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1447 fell and 904 advanced, while 137 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.38% to 13.6350.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.25% or 3.55 to $1396.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 2.37% or 1.37 to hit $59.20 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 2.23% or 1.43 to trade at $65.59 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.03% to 68.570, while EUR/INR rose 0.17% to 76.9450.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 97.047.
