Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Real Estate, IT and Capital Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.36%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN), which rose 4.04% or 20.80 points to trade at 536.00 at the close. Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) added 3.55% or 11.15 points to end at 324.95 and NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC) was up 2.29% or 3.90 points to 174.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT), which lost 7.48% or 74.80 points to trade at 925.70 in late trade. UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL) declined 3.48% or 25.50 points to end at 707.90 and Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) shed 2.11% or 643.85 points to 29878.40.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which rose 3.68% to 534.50, NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was up 2.32% to settle at 174.40 and Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which gained 1.84% to close at 585.65.
The worst performers were Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which was down 1.94% to 270.15 in late trade, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which lost 1.90% to settle at 1233.40 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was down 1.74% to 1200.50 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1222 to 390 and 39 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1800 fell and 787 advanced, while 130 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.13% to 12.9850.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.53% or 6.90 to $1312.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.09% or 0.06 to hit $67.99 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.11% or 0.08 to trade at $73.28 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.32% to 66.598, while EUR/INR rose 0.11% to 79.7861.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 92.30.
