Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Capital Goods, Oil & Gas and Public Sector Undertakings sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.26%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM), which rose 1.96% or 49.20 points to trade at 2569.80 at the close. Vedanta Ltd (NS:VDAN) added 2.41% or 3.95 points to end at 167.65 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) was up 2.36% or 9.40 points to 407.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR), which lost 2.97% or 7.95 points to trade at 258.95 in late trade. Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) declined 2.74% or 4.20 points to end at 149.70 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) shed 2.00% or 69.05 points to 3377.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which rose 2.44% to 167.70, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was up 2.41% to settle at 407.70 and Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which gained 2.34% to close at 472.60.
The worst performers were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 2.08% to 3377.75 in late trade, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which lost 2.06% to settle at 149.85 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 1.98% to 1510.35 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 807 to 762 and 72 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1214 fell and 1137 advanced, while 142 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.79% to 11.9975 a new 52-week low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.08% or 1.15 to $1407.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.17% or 0.10 to hit $60.30 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.35% or 0.23 to trade at $66.75 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.38% to 68.660, while EUR/INR rose 0.40% to 77.2800.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 96.627.
