Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Real Estate, Capital Goods and Auto sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.25%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were ITC Ltd (NS:ITC), which rose 1.76% or 5.10 points to trade at 295.35 at the close. UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL) added 1.10% or 8.50 points to end at 783.45 and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (NS:IOC) was up 0.89% or 1.15 points to 131.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK), which lost 3.45% or 54.05 points to trade at 1515.15 in late trade. Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) declined 3.20% or 5.95 points to end at 180.30 and Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) shed 2.96% or 8.45 points to 277.20.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which rose 2.02% to 295.40, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which was up 0.80% to settle at 144.70 and Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which gained 0.74% to close at 196.55.
The worst performers were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 3.26% to 1515.40 in late trade, Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which lost 2.83% to settle at 180.30 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 2.45% to 1841.95 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 898 to 657 and 70 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1362 fell and 1158 advanced, while 168 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.05% to 15.3525.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.47% or 6.05 to $1293.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.84% or 0.44 to hit $53.03 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.66% or 0.41 to trade at $62.09 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.04% to 70.505, while EUR/INR rose 0.43% to 81.3085.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 94.922.
