Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Real Estate, Power and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.23%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC), which rose 2.73% or 5.00 points to trade at 188.25 at the close. Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) added 2.00% or 8.05 points to end at 412.10 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) was up 1.33% or 8.70 points to 663.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY), which lost 3.47% or 71.65 points to trade at 1989.60 in late trade. Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) declined 2.47% or 8.45 points to end at 333.60 and Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF) shed 2.54% or 31.35 points to 1208.65.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which rose 2.87% to 188.15, Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was up 1.92% to settle at 410.35 and Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) which gained 0.71% to close at 198.25.
The worst performers were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was down 3.70% to 1988.30 in late trade, Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which lost 2.34% to settle at 333.35 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 1.85% to 496.95 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1243 to 369 and 32 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1843 fell and 744 advanced, while 111 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.07% to 14.4250.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.30% or 4.00 to $1317.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.62% or 0.44 to hit $71.58 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.30% or 0.23 to trade at $77.44 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.12% to 67.255, while EUR/INR rose 0.20% to 79.9733.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.28% at 92.69.
