Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Healthcare and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.14%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Divi's Laboratories Ltd. (NS:DIVI), which rose 3.37% or 200.10 points to trade at 6,142.25 at the close. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) added 2.36% or 17.20 points to end at 747.35 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) was up 1.71% or 31.00 points to 1,839.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM), which lost 1.88% or 59.95 points to trade at 3,134.35 in late trade. Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) declined 1.85% or 78.20 points to end at 4,149.20 and ICICI Bank Ltd (NS:ICBK) shed 1.65% or 20.50 points to 1,223.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which rose 1.70% to 1,840.75, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was up 1.42% to settle at 1,643.30 and JSW Steel Ltd (BO:JSTL) which gained 1.02% to close at 1,017.10.
The worst performers were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 1.93% to 4,147.00 in late trade, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which lost 1.83% to settle at 3,135.00 and ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which was down 1.56% to 1,223.85 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1238 to 1237 and 94 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2034 rose and 1676 declined, while 117 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.24% to 13.33.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.67% or 17.65 to $2,656.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.54% or 0.41 to hit $75.44 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.60% or 0.48 to trade at $78.92 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.16% to 84.09, while EUR/INR rose 0.12% to 91.96.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 102.71.
