Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Real Estate, Banking and Fast Moving Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.14%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.31%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL), which rose 6.43% or 22.20 points to trade at 367.30 at the close. Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) added 3.13% or 50.70 points to end at 1,672.50 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) was up 2.65% or 50.30 points to 1,948.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD), which lost 3.06% or 11.20 points to trade at 354.25 in late trade. Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) declined 2.06% or 36.50 points to end at 1,734.60 and HDFC Bank Ltd (NS:HDBK) shed 1.73% or 30.80 points to 1,752.65.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which rose 2.67% to 1,949.00, Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was up 1.58% to settle at 3,817.00 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which gained 1.51% to close at 440.95.
The worst performers were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 2.75% to 355.20 in late trade, ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which lost 1.80% to settle at 1,307.00 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 1.74% to 1,739.15 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1273 to 1226 and 84 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1883 fell and 1882 advanced, while 115 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.62% to 11.93.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.29% or 7.90 to $2,687.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.34% or 0.23 to hit $67.90 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.25% or 0.18 to trade at $71.27 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.08% to 83.69, while EUR/INR rose 0.04% to 93.49.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 100.17.
