Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the IT, Fast Moving Consumer Goods and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.12%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.30%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF), which rose 6.81% or 63.35 points to trade at 999.80 at the close. UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL) added 6.13% or 40.50 points to end at 697.55 and Vedanta Ltd (NS:VDAN) was up 4.84% or 11.15 points to 241.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO), which lost 3.09% or 7.45 points to trade at 233.35 in late trade. Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) declined 2.77% or 7.45 points to end at 261.50 and Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR) shed 2.76% or 9.05 points to 319.25.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which rose 4.70% to 241.55, Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which was up 1.73% to settle at 223.65 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which gained 1.72% to close at 1251.75.
The worst performers were Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) which was down 3.29% to 123.30 in late trade, Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which lost 3.15% to settle at 233.30 and Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which was down 2.91% to 319.90 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 830 to 791 and 50 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1282 fell and 1252 advanced, while 169 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.43% to 17.0875.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.17% or 2.00 to $1203.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.12% or 0.09 to hit $72.19 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.18% or 0.15 to trade at $81.11 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.10% to 72.615, while EUR/INR fell 0.17% to 85.3830.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 93.82.
