Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Real Estate, Fast Moving Consumer Goods and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.03%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC), which rose 2.21% or 6.60 points to trade at 304.75 at the close. Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) added 2.08% or 6.25 points to end at 306.60 and Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) was up 1.90% or 9.30 points to 500.05 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tata Consumer Products Ltd (NS:TACN), which lost 1.79% or 20.55 points to trade at 1,130.25 in late trade. Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) declined 1.48% or 104.65 points to end at 6,950.30 and Divi's Laboratories Ltd. (NS:DIVI) shed 1.42% or 66.05 points to 4,570.90.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which rose 1.60% to 458.50, Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was up 1.50% to settle at 1,020.50 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which gained 1.12% to close at 3,029.00.
The worst performers were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 1.33% to 6,961.60 in late trade, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which lost 1.11% to settle at 2,701.70 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 0.85% to 1,583.95 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1335 to 918 and 26 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2086 rose and 1683 declined, while 103 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.03% to 13.99.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.35% or 8.35 to $2,388.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.30% or 0.25 to hit $82.35 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.36% or 0.31 to trade at $85.39 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.07% to 83.56, while EUR/INR rose 0.26% to 90.67.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 104.56.
