Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Real Estate, Capital Goods and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 1.08%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.99%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were ACC Ltd (NS:ACC), which rose 7.46% or 111.55 points to trade at 1607.00 at the close. Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS) added 4.36% or 49.25 points to end at 1180.10 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) was up 4.10% or 163.20 points to 4141.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN), which lost 3.29% or 46.35 points to trade at 1361.50 in late trade. Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) declined 1.31% or 7.40 points to end at 557.05 and Aurobindo Pharma Ltd. (NS:ARBN) shed 0.92% or 5.85 points to 627.35.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Gail (India) Ltd. (BO:GAIL) which rose 3.17% to 413.20, AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was up 2.55% to settle at 498.20 and Larsen & Toubro Limited (BO:LART) which gained 2.54% to close at 1730.60.
The worst performers were Lupin Ltd (BO:LUPN) which was down 3.33% to 1362.15 in late trade, Cipla Ltd. (BO:CIPL) which lost 1.30% to settle at 556.10 and NTPC Limited (BO:NTPC) which was down 0.51% to 166.20 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 932 to 647 and 8 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1568 rose and 1262 declined, while 142 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.77% to 11.6250.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.25% or 16.14 to $1272.96 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.93% or 0.46 to hit $50.08 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.92% or 0.48 to trade at $52.92 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.28% to 64.456, while EUR/INR rose 0.87% to 69.9470.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.71% at 98.95.
