Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Consumer Durables, Metals and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 2.57%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 2.71%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN), which rose 10.46% or 204.35 points to trade at 2158.00 at the close. Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) added 7.83% or 345.05 points to end at 4749.95 and Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) was up 7.70% or 68.50 points to 958.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY), which lost 2.94% or 119.75 points to trade at 3951.50 in late trade. Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) declined 2.46% or 5.65 points to end at 224.30 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) shed 2.17% or 84.85 points to 3820.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which rose 10.62% to 2160.05, Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was up 7.70% to settle at 959.15 and Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which gained 6.72% to close at 315.05.
The worst performers were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 2.17% to 465.15 in late trade, Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which lost 2.14% to settle at 17157.80 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which was down 2.10% to 3820.00 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1287 to 261 and 77 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1792 rose and 562 declined, while 133 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.73% to 30.7425.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.23% or 4.10 to $1747.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.70% or 0.25 to hit $35.24 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.13% or 0.05 to trade at $37.89 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.07% to 75.535, while EUR/INR rose 0.01% to 83.9305.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 98.155.
