Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Oil & Gas and Capital Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 1.16%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 1.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharat Electronics Ltd (NS:BAJE), which rose 5.41% or 15.50 points to trade at 301.85 at the close. Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL) added 4.48% or 130.70 points to end at 3,046.25 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) was up 4.24% or 168.30 points to 4,139.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:SBIL), which lost 1.79% or 29.25 points to trade at 1,603.95 in late trade. Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) declined 1.65% or 53.20 points to end at 3,177.05 and HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL) shed 1.19% or 8.55 points to 708.70.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which rose 4.24% to 4,140.00, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was up 4.06% to settle at 1,825.00 and Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which gained 3.97% to close at 565.25.
The worst performers were Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was down 1.52% to 3,184.00 in late trade, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which lost 0.92% to settle at 1,080.00 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was down 0.23% to 2,509.25 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2022 to 439 and 123 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2847 rose and 942 declined, while 89 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 8.22% to 14.80.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.50% or 13.85 to $2,735.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.36% or 0.98 to hit $71.01 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.42% or 1.07 to trade at $74.46 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.20% to 84.28, while EUR/INR fell 1.37% to 90.68.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 1.39% at 104.76.
