Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate, Public Sector Undertakings and Capital Goods sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.89%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.93%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML), which rose 4.43% or 56.10 points to trade at 1,323.00 at the close. HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) added 4.00% or 53.80 points to end at 1,397.50 and SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:SBIL) was up 3.79% or 52.75 points to 1,442.85 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC), which lost 2.55% or 17.75 points to trade at 677.50 in late trade. Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) declined 2.20% or 124.25 points to end at 5,534.25 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL) shed 2.04% or 53.15 points to 2,549.60.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which rose 4.46% to 1,323.00, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which was up 4.06% to settle at 1,397.95 and State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which gained 3.43% to close at 816.75.

The worst performers were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was down 1.84% to 2,555.00 in late trade, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which lost 1.63% to settle at 2,912.20 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was down 1.44% to 2,703.20 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1885 to 330 and 43 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2891 rose and 803 declined, while 99 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 11.04% to 16.80 a new 1-month low.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.17% or 4.15 to $2,379.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.43% or 0.32 to hit $74.39 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.36% or 0.28 to trade at $78.69 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.10% to 83.50, while EUR/INR rose 0.18% to 90.81.

The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 104.22.
