Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Public Sector Undertakings, Metals and Capital Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.66%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.55%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which rose 4.48% or 20.90 points to trade at 486.35 at the close. Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (NS:HPCL) added 4.43% or 9.90 points to end at 232.70 and Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN) was up 3.51% or 26.80 points to 786.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI), which lost 3.16% or 10.05 points to trade at 307.65 in late trade. Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA) declined 1.36% or 39.55 points to end at 2863.50 and AXIS Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK) shed 1.00% or 7.10 points to 702.40.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) which rose 2.97% to 90.15, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was up 2.94% to settle at 1516.30 and Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which gained 2.68% to close at 237.40.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 3.43% to 307.05 in late trade, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which lost 1.20% to settle at 1388.15 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which was down 1.16% to 2862.90 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1300 to 298 and 43 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1848 rose and 639 declined, while 125 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 10.96% to 16.2750.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.36% or 4.80 to $1311.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.09% or 0.05 to hit $57.27 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.20% or 0.13 to trade at $66.18 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.07% to 70.862, while EUR/INR rose 0.12% to 80.6295.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 96.157.
