Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Public Sector Undertakings, Banking and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.48%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.45%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were State Bank Of India (NS:SBI), which rose 5.13% or 40.65 points to trade at 832.70 at the close. Bharat Electronics Ltd (NS:BAJE) added 5.04% or 13.60 points to end at 283.65 and Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) was up 3.76% or 177.50 points to 4,898.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO), which lost 4.06% or 35.70 points to trade at 842.75 in late trade. Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:MRTI) declined 3.81% or 437.25 points to end at 11,046.00 and Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) shed 2.85% or 140.35 points to 4,787.45.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which rose 5.00% to 831.65, ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which was up 3.13% to settle at 1,333.05 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which gained 2.07% to close at 1,766.00.
The worst performers were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was down 4.11% to 11,010.00 in late trade, Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which lost 3.90% to settle at 844.40 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 2.14% to 1,862.00 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1470 to 986 and 88 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2123 rose and 1562 declined, while 124 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.63% to 14.52.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.18% or 5.00 to $2,760.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.08% or 0.73 to hit $68.11 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.06% or 0.75 to trade at $71.75 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.02% to 84.09, while EUR/INR fell 0.08% to 90.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 104.24.
