Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate, Capital Goods and Consumer Durables sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.33% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Shriram Finance Ltd. (NS:SHMF), which rose 4.57% or 117.35 points to trade at 2,684.30 at the close. HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL) added 3.63% or 20.80 points to end at 593.50 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) was up 3.21% or 89.45 points to 2,877.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL), which lost 1.63% or 41.30 points to trade at 2,487.40 in late trade. Axis Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK) declined 1.12% or 13.25 points to end at 1,174.65 and ICICI Bank Ltd (NS:ICBK) shed 1.09% or 12.20 points to 1,107.35.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which rose 3.13% to 2,875.00, Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was up 2.59% to settle at 3,468.65 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which gained 1.95% to close at 3,700.25.
The worst performers were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was down 1.55% to 2,489.90 in late trade, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which lost 1.06% to settle at 321.15 and Axis Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was down 0.99% to 1,175.70 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1368 to 877 and 29 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2239 rose and 1500 declined, while 94 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 6.26% to 13.49 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.84% or 19.70 to $2,335.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.82% or 0.64 to hit $77.86 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.70% or 0.58 to trade at $82.02 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.06% to 83.54, while EUR/INR rose 0.01% to 90.31.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.23% at 104.37.
