Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Real Estate, Metals and Fast Moving Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.33%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.36%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL), which rose 3.28% or 6.50 points to trade at 205.30 at the close. Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) added 1.17% or 2.25 points to end at 196.35 and Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) was up 1.71% or 12.45 points to 738.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which lost 4.97% or 2.35 points to trade at 44.75 in late trade. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) declined 3.49% or 9.50 points to end at 263.00 and ICICI Bank Ltd (NS:ICBK) shed 1.13% or 6.15 points to 540.25.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which rose 2.27% to 196.40, Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) which was up 1.89% to settle at 81.00 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which gained 1.47% to close at 738.25.
The worst performers were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which was down 5.29% to 44.80 in late trade, ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which lost 1.11% to settle at 540.25 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 1.11% to 1490.60 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 869 to 674 and 86 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1358 rose and 1076 declined, while 160 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.57% to 14.0775.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.28% or 4.40 to $1549.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.32% or 0.19 to hit $59.37 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.26% or 0.17 to trade at $65.20 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.32% to 70.969, while EUR/INR fell 0.42% to 78.7335.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 97.245.
