Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Technology, Public Sector Undertakings and IT sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.28% to hit a new 3-month high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which rose 23.77% or 13.50 points to trade at 70.40 at the close. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) added 10.78% or 25.35 points to end at 260.60 and State Bank Of India (NS:SBI) was up 7.80% or 22.60 points to 312.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL), which lost 2.86% or 6.70 points to trade at 228.00 in late trade. Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) declined 2.04% or 15.40 points to end at 739.00 and Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC) shed 2.06% or 8.00 points to 380.55.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which rose 24.03% to 70.45, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was up 7.69% to settle at 312.25 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which gained 3.79% to close at 685.50.
The worst performers were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was down 2.09% to 738.80 in late trade, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which lost 1.95% to settle at 380.50 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was down 1.77% to 605.80 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 977 to 572 and 83 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1469 rose and 965 declined, while 136 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.27% to 16.2800.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.77% or 11.55 to $1508.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.22% or 0.12 to hit $54.94 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.12% or 0.07 to trade at $60.17 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.06% to 70.997, while EUR/INR rose 0.23% to 79.2755.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.38% at 97.067.
