Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Healthcare and Public Sector Undertakings sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.11%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL), which rose 2.53% or 12.60 points to trade at 510.35 at the close. Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY) added 2.47% or 47.70 points to end at 1978.80 and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (NS:IOC) was up 2.42% or 10.00 points to 423.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC), which lost 2.76% or 4.75 points to trade at 167.25 in late trade. Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) declined 2.11% or 84.00 points to end at 3888.05 and Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) shed 2.08% or 657.10 points to 30977.15.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which rose 2.49% to 472.00, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was up 2.38% to settle at 1979.10 and Lupin Ltd (BO:LUPN) which gained 2.32% to close at 944.25.
The worst performers were NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was down 2.59% to 167.40 in late trade, Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) which lost 2.07% to settle at 3885.30 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which was down 1.09% to 2740.50 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1042 to 499 and 14 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1596 fell and 898 advanced, while 122 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 4.79% to 14.1050.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.37% or 4.80 to $1291.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.11% or 0.05 to hit $47.58 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.21% or 0.11 to trade at $51.77 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.05% to 64.145, while EUR/INR fell 0.50% to 75.3740.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.46% at 93.43.
