Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the IT, Healthcare and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.09%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL), which rose 3.74% or 22.00 points to trade at 611.60 at the close. Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY) added 3.54% or 80.45 points to end at 2349.85 and Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) was up 3.35% or 41.55 points to 1281.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC), which lost 3.00% or 7.35 points to trade at 237.40 in late trade. Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (NS:IOC) declined 2.22% or 3.80 points to end at 167.75 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) shed 2.09% or 78.55 points to 3691.65.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which rose 3.65% to 2351.10, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was up 3.37% to settle at 1280.45 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which gained 2.75% to close at 1841.45.
The worst performers were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which was down 1.91% to 330.55 in late trade, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which lost 1.82% to settle at 277.55 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which was down 1.81% to 165.45 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1007 to 591 and 53 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1487 fell and 1062 advanced, while 142 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.21% to 12.0700 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.48% or 6.30 to $1302.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.28% or 0.19 to hit $66.70 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.17% or 0.89 to trade at $75.05 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.24% to 68.025, while EUR/INR rose 0.68% to 78.8422.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 94.81.
