Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Auto, Real Estate and Consumer Durables sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.07%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM), which rose 3.58% or 102.05 points to trade at 2,948.95 at the close. Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) added 2.34% or 38.85 points to end at 1,699.65 and HDFC Bank Ltd (NS:HDBK) was up 2.18% or 37.15 points to 1,742.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:SBIL), which lost 2.54% or 39.70 points to trade at 1,522.90 in late trade. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) declined 1.70% or 11.05 points to end at 640.00 and Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI) shed 1.51% or 19.10 points to 1,241.65.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which rose 3.07% to 2,934.45, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was up 1.90% to settle at 1,692.90 and HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which gained 1.82% to close at 1,735.45.
The worst performers were Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was down 1.83% to 1,237.55 in late trade, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which lost 1.43% to settle at 802.05 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was down 1.21% to 1,596.05 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1577 to 890 and 159 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2177 rose and 1609 declined, while 95 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 6.59% to 16.17.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.95% or 24.90 to $2,639.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.88% or 0.61 to hit $68.56 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.76% or 0.56 to trade at $72.74 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.03% to 84.43, while EUR/INR fell 0.32% to 89.17.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 106.32.
