Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Technology, IT and Green Energy sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.02%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS), which rose 2.34% or 98.30 points to trade at 4,295.25 at the close. HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) added 2.10% or 33.50 points to end at 1,626.15 and Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) was up 1.44% or 25.80 points to 1,823.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Divi's Laboratories Ltd. (NS:DIVI), which lost 4.11% or 199.80 points to trade at 4,662.00 in late trade. Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) declined 3.30% or 173.05 points to end at 5,072.45 and Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) shed 3.27% or 17.05 points to 504.70.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which rose 2.30% to 4,291.65, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which was up 2.09% to settle at 1,625.95 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which gained 1.44% to close at 1,822.65.
The worst performers were UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which was down 2.37% to 11,001.65 in late trade, JSW Steel Ltd (BO:JSTL) which lost 1.93% to settle at 890.15 and Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was down 1.81% to 146.20 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 0 to 0; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 0 fell and 0 advanced on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 4.41% to 15.45.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.66% or 16.40 to $2,496.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.56% or 0.43 to hit $77.41 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.59% or 0.47 to trade at $80.23 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.05% to 83.94, while EUR/INR fell 0.06% to 92.42.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 102.43.
