Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Metals and IT sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.01%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Shriram Finance Ltd. (NS:SHMF), which rose 2.56% or 79.60 points to trade at 3,186.50 at the close. Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) added 1.61% or 26.35 points to end at 1,663.40 and Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR) was up 1.43% or 4.35 points to 308.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI), which lost 1.49% or 23.90 points to trade at 1,578.65 in late trade. Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) declined 1.43% or 18.10 points to end at 1,248.75 and HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL) shed 1.32% or 8.50 points to 633.30.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which rose 1.65% to 1,665.00, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which was up 1.31% to settle at 1,934.55 and Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which gained 1.15% to close at 307.65.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 1.30% to 1,581.00 in late trade, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which lost 0.90% to settle at 1,761.50 and Axis Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was down 0.73% to 1,155.00 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1310 to 1173 and 143 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1947 rose and 1840 declined, while 128 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.36% to 13.77 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.22% or 5.84 to $2,691.64 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.50% or 0.34 to hit $68.03 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.46% or 0.33 to trade at $71.81 a barrel.
USD/INR was unchanged 0.00% to 84.84, while EUR/INR fell 0.22% to 89.36.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 105.99.
