Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Monday, as gains in the Chemicals, Food & Beverages and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Basic Resources, Transportation & Logistics and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.46% to hit a new 1-month high, while the MDAX index fell 0.05%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p), which rose 1.70% or 2.300 points to trade at 137.950 at the close. Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) added 1.52% or 0.920 points to end at 61.600 and Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) was up 1.30% or 1.110 points to 86.440 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG), which lost 0.38% or 0.075 points to trade at 19.580 in late trade. Siemens AG NA (DE:SIEGn) declined 0.34% or 0.340 points to end at 98.350 and Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (DE:DPWGn) shed 0.13% or 0.035 points to 26.640.
The top performers on the MDAX were Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which rose 3.04% to 10.68, Gerresheimer AG (DE:GXId) which was up 1.23% to settle at 71.690 and Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which gained 1.14% to close at 37.635.
The worst performers were DMG Mori Seiki AG (DE:GILG) which was down 5.14% to 40.310 in late trade, Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which lost 1.90% to settle at 45.920 and Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) which was down 1.30% to 106.250 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which rose 4.51% to 9.175, Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which was up 3.43% to settle at 176.300 and RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which gained 3.25% to close at 9.220.
The worst performers were Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was down 2.62% to 24.68 in late trade, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which lost 1.95% to settle at 15.810 and Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was down 1.50% to 49.940 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 512 to 364 and 33 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.21% to 19.23.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.76% or 9.20 to $1207.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.59% or 0.29 to hit $49.62 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.72% or 0.36 to trade at $50.31 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.21% to 1.1138, while EUR/GBP rose 0.11% to 0.7610.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.01% at 95.72.
