Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Industrials, Consumer & Cyclical and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Telecoms, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Basic Resources sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.40%, while the MDAX index gained 0.09%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.45%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DBKGn), which rose 5.25% or 1.590 points to trade at 31.850 at the close. Siemens AG NA (XETRA:SIEGn) added 3.84% or 3.550 points to end at 96.030 and Adidas AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ADSGN) was up 2.65% or 1.910 points to 73.940 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (XETRA:FMEG), which lost 3.99% or 3.120 points to trade at 75.130 in late trade. Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG) declined 2.84% or 0.360 points to end at 12.300 and K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN) shed 2.41% or 0.870 points to 35.255.
The top performers on the MDAX were Norma Group AG NA O.N. (XETRA:NOEJ) which rose 3.39% to 44.020, Osram Licht (XETRA:OSRn) which was up 2.77% to settle at 50.744 and Kuka AG (XETRA:KU2G) which gained 2.21% to close at 75.830.
The worst performers were Salzgitter AG O.N. (XETRA:SZGG) which was down 2.08% to 32.170 in late trade, Duerr AG O.N. (XETRA:DUEG) which lost 1.78% to settle at 74.950 and Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (XETRA:PSMGn) which was down 1.71% to 46.020 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Aixtron SE NA O.N. (XETRA:AIXGn) which rose 1.69% to 5.069, Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (XETRA:PV) which was up 1.14% to settle at 81.900 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:SATG_p) which gained 1.03% to close at 191.700.
The worst performers were LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which was down 4.23% to 8.000 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (XETRA:NDXG) which lost 3.73% to settle at 25.290 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (XETRA:COPMa) which was down 3.40% to 28.110 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 397 to 344 and 40 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 19.30.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.29% or 3.20 to $1090.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.43% or 0.21 to hit $49.00 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.48% or 0.26 to trade at $53.63 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.67% to 1.0910, while EUR/GBP fell 0.53% to 0.7005.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.57% at 97.77.
